Purdue ended streaks of six straight Homecoming losses and 18 straight losses to ranked opponents with its win over No. 23 Boston College on Saturday.
Purdue's last win against a ranked opponent came on Oct. 22, 2011, (a homecoming game) to then-No. 23 Illinois. That was 2,527 days ago.
Purdue's 17-point margin of victory was its largest over a ranked opponent since beating then-No. 5 Michigan State by 24 points (52-28) on Oct. 16, 1999.
OFFENSE
QB David Blough completed 21 of 28 pass attempts for 296 yards and three touchdowns. Blough passed Scott Campbell (1,060; 1980-83) for fifth in school history in passing attempts (1,076) and recorded his 50th career touchdown pass.
WR Rondale Moore caught a career-high two touchdown passes, including his career-long 70-yard touchdown reception.
Moore (110) crossed 100 yards receiving for the third time in four games.
With his 70-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, Moore has tallied a play of 40 or more yards in every game of his collegiate career.
WR Isaac Zico caught a single-game best six passes for 84 yards.
DEFENSE
Purdue held Boston College, which entered the game with the NCAA's eighth-ranked rushing offense at 285.7 yards per game, to a season-low 85 yards.
Purdue totaled four interceptions with two caught by defensive lineman off deflections. Kai Higgins, Anthony Watts, Kenneth Major and Antonio Blackmon each registered a pick.
LB Markus Bailey matched his career high for unassisted tackles with 10.
LB Derrick Barnes two sacks and three tackles for loss were single-game highs.
SPECIAL TEAMS
P Joe Schopper averaged 42.2 yards per punt on five punts Saturday, including two punts of a season-high 56 yards.
